The Rebel

In 1922, Vietnam is at the brink of revolution against French colonial rule. Cuong, Vietnamese by blood, but educated by the French government, is an agent working to destroy the Vietnamese rebellion. When Thuy, the daughter of the rebel leader, is captured during an assassination attempt, Cuong’s assignment is to use her to gain information concerning the rebels. But once Cuong begins to have feelings for her, along with his increasing doubt about his association with the French government, he becomes torn between his mission and Thuy. The Rebel, the first collaboration between Christopher Wong and director Charlie Nguyen, was scored with a 23 piece orchestra of brass and strings.
