The film is a revenge tale involving Chinese immigrant families, and will screen at the Visual Communications festival and the CineVegas festival later this year. 11/20/06 – Orchestra recording of the score for “The Rebel” has been successfully completed. The sessions involved a 23 piece orchestra of brass and strings, recorded at Capitol Studios, Hollywood. 7/15/06 - Christopher Wong is in preparation for two very different projects: a short film by UCLA director Ken Kokka and a 35mm feature film titled The Rebel by Vietnamese director Charlie Nguyen. The feature score will be produced by the Pacific Blue Music team of Nicole Garcia, Christopher Wong, and Emily Rolph, assisted by LA session musician Caroline Kung, composer/songwriter Pete Nguyen, and orchestrator/copyist/conductor Ryan Rowles. Orchestra recording is expected in mid to late October. 5/20/06 - Scoring of the first installment of Victor Vu’s episodic thriller Mysterious World is in progress. Make sure to check out our own First Morning page to hear selections from the score. 1/25/06 - Nicole Garcia prepares to go on tour with Kanye West from February through the middle of April on the Europe, Australia, and Asia leg of the "Touch the Sky" tour. 1/24/06 - Christopher Wong, Nicole Garcia, and score supervisor Emily Rolph have returned from attending several days at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Our most recent film, Journey From the Fall, premiered at the festival on Saturday, January 21, to great success and will continue to screen at the Egyptian Theater throughout the remainder of the festival. The premiere played to a sold out house and was received with a standing ovation. Of particular interest were the stories that were shared during the post-screening discussion by members of the Vietnamese community. In attendance were several men and women who had either been boat people or prisoners in the communist reeducation camps in Vietnam. It was truly an honor to hear them share about how our film told the stories of their suffering, stuggles, and perseverance, the stories that many in the theater were becoming aware of for the first time while seeing our film. 1/1/06 - Happy New Year!
